Description
Sencha green tea is a type of Japanese green tea that is made from tea leaves that are steamed, rolled, and then dried. The name “sencha” literally means “roasted tea,” although the tea leaves are not actually roasted. Instead, they are heated briefly to prevent oxidation and preserve the green color and fresh flavor of the leaves.
Sencha green tea is one of the most popular types of green tea in Japan and is enjoyed for its light, refreshing flavor and numerous health benefits. It contains a high concentration of antioxidants, including catechins and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which are believed to help protect against a range of chronic diseases, including heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Sencha green tea is also known for its caffeine content, which can provide a natural boost of energy without the jittery side effects often associated with coffee. It is often brewed with water that is slightly cooler than boiling to bring out the delicate flavors and aromas of the tea.
